img_5611My name is Sarah Newcomb. I am the youngest of four children, born into a devout Mormon family. I am of two worlds. My dad is anglo, and from a very traditional Mormon family. I was a 7th generation Mormon on my dad’s side. I am Native American – Tsimshian of The First Nations on my mom’s side. My tribe is the only reservation in Alaska, called Metlakatla. I am a freelance writer and editor. I have an Associates Degree in Communications, Bachelors Degree in English with concentration in Non-Fiction Writing, and a Minor in Philosophy.

My beautiful Grandma Sarah whom I am named after. She had an amazing laugh, and was extremely loved by her family. She always taught family first.

My Uncle Bert has been a rock in my life for years. He has been there for me in so many ways. He let me know I belong with the family, even when I was unsure of myself. Love him!

For any of you who may have listened to the Mormon Stories podcast, this is the cousin I almost lost. I would never have been the same if he was gone. This past year I have had the opportunity to reconnect with him, and the rest of the family. ❤
